Vals-près-le-Puy is a French commune in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and has 3396 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Le Puy-en-Velay and the Canton of Le Puy-en-Velay-1 . The inhabitants are called Valladiers .

geography

Vals-près-le-Puy is located on the Dolaizon river and is a banlieue in the south-west of Le Puy-en-Velay . Vals-près-le-Puy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Puy-en-Velay in the north and east, Saint-Christophe-sur-Dolaizon in the south and south-west, Ceyssac in the west and Espaly-Saint-Marcel in the north-west.

The GR65 long-distance hiking trail and Via Podiensis run through the municipality as part of the Camino de Santiago.
