Yzeron is a French commune with 1,022 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Lyon and the Canton of Vaugneray .
geography
The community is located around 20 kilometers west of Lyon in the eastern foothills of the Monts du Lyonnais mountains . Neighboring municipalities to Yzeron are:
- Courzieu in the north,
- Vaugneray in the northeast,
- Thurins in the southeast,
- Saint-Martin-en-Haut to the southwest and
- Saint-Genis-l'Argentière to the west.
The municipality is crossed by the river Yzeron of the same name , whose headwaters are west of the main town. There it was dammed into a small lake, on the banks of which a leisure center has been built. In addition to the town of Yzeron itself, the hamlet of Châteauvieux is also of greater importance.
