Grigny is a French commune in the Métropole de Lyon in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Lyon . The inhabitants are called Grignerots . Grigny has 9,662 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) and belongs to the greater Lyon area.

geography

Grigny is located about 17 kilometers south of Lyon on the Rhône . The river Mornantet forms the southern boundary of the municipality . Grigny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Millery in the north, Ternay in the east and Givors in the south and west.

Since 1832, Grigny has had a station on the Saint-Étienne – Lyon railway, the second railway line in France. This line was later integrated into the Moret-Veneux-les-Sablons-Lyon-Perrache railway . Today he is by trains of TER Auvergne Rhône-Alpes of the connection Givors-Ville - Lyon-Perrache served.
