Administratively, the municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Lyon and is part of the canton of Vaugneray (until 2015: canton of Mornant ).

Saint-André-la-Côte is located about 22 kilometers southwest of Lyon in the Monts du Lyonnais of the Massif Central . The neighboring municipalities of Saint-André-la-Côte are Rontalon in the north and northeast, Chaussan in the east, Chabanière with the Commune deleguée Saint-Sorlin in the southeast, Sainte-Catherine in the south and Saint-Martin-en-Haut in the west.
