Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d'Or is surrounded by the neighboring communities Couzon-au-Mont-d'Or in the north, Rochetaillée-sur-Saône in the east and north-east, Collonges-au-Mont-d'Or in the south-east as well Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d'Or to the south and west.
