Échalas is a French commune in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Lyon and is part of the canton of Mornant (until 2015: canton of Givors ). Échalas has 1,799 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017), who are called Chalarons .

geography

Échalas is located about 24 kilometers south-southwest of Lyon on the Monts du Lyonnais . Échalas is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Givors in the north, Loire-sur-Rhône in the east, Les Haies in the south, Trèves in the west and south-west and Saint-Romain-en-Gier in the west and north-west.
