Joux is a French municipality with 691 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and the canton of Tarare . The inhabitants are called Jouxiens .

geography

Joux is located about 33 kilometers west-northwest of Lyon in the Bourgogne wine region . The Turdine crosses the municipality and rises in the northwest. Joux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Sauvages in the north, Tarare in the east, Saint-Marcel-l'Éclairé in the south-east, Violay in the south and south-west, Saint-Cyr-de-Valorges in the west and Machézal in the north-west.

The A89 car route runs along the southern edge of the municipality .
