Sain-Bel is located about 20 kilometers west-northwest of Lyon on the Brévenne and in the Beaujolais countryside and belongs to the Coteaux du Lyonnais wine-growing region . Sain-Bel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of L'Arbresle in the north, Éveux in the northeast, Sourcieux-les-Mines in the east, Saint-Pierre-la-Palud in the southeast, Chevinay in the south and Savigny in the west.
