Savigny is a French commune with 2,009 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and the canton of L'Arbresle . The inhabitants are called Savignois .

geography

Savigny is located about 20 kilometers west-northwest of Lyon on the Trésoncle in the Beaujolais countryside and belongs to the Coteaux du Lyonnais wine-growing region . Savigny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bully in the north, L'Arbresle in the northeast, Sain-Bel in the east, Chevinay in the southeast, Bessenay in the south, Bibost in the south and southwest, Saint-Julien-sur-Bibost in the southwest, Ancy in the west as well Saint-Romain-de-Popey in the northwest.
