Saint-Pierre-la-Palud is located about 17 kilometers west-northwest of Lyon in the Beaujolais landscape and belongs to the Coteaux du Lyonnais wine-growing region . The Col de la Luère at 715 meters, an elevation in the Monts du Lyonnais, lies on the southeastern municipal boundary . Saint-Pierre-la-Palud is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sain-Bel in the north and north-west, Sourcieu-les-Mines in the north and north-east, Pollionnay in the east and south-east and Chevinay in the south and west.
