Glenn Freemantle (* 20th May 1959 in Uxbridge , United Kingdom ) is a British sound engineer and sound designer , who at the 86th Academy Awards in 2014 with an Oscar in the category Best Sound Editing for his work in the 3D -Weltraum- thriller Gravity was awarded is.
biography
Freemantle began an apprenticeship as a sound editor at the age of 16 . He chose the film industry because he wasn't doing well in school. At first he made small short films, which was logical for him, since his father worked in this industry.
In 2009 Freemantle starred in Danny Boyle's eight-time Oscar-winning romantic drama Slumdog Millionaire , for which he was also nominated for an Oscar and received a BAFTA Award and a Golden Reel Award . With Boyle, Freemantle worked again in 2010 for the biographical adventure drama 127 Hours . The film was nominated for an Oscar in six categories. Freemantle received a nomination for a BAFTA Award, a Golden Reel Award, an OFTA Film Award, a Satellite Award and a Critics Choice Award . The 2013 released dramatic sci-fi thriller Gravity starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney , which received over 200 awards and an additional 175 nominations for awards, is also one of the films that are part of Freemantle's oeuvre. He has received an Oscar, a BAFTA Award, an AMPS Feature Film Award, a Gold Derby Award, an INOCA, a Golden Reel Award and other awards and nominations for his work in this film. Ex Machina , a film directed by Alex Garland with Alicia Vikander , was on Freemantle's 2014 program. The film received more than 70 awards and 153 nominations for awards. Freemantle was nominated for a Halfway Award in the "Best Sound" category.
