Highlander: Endgame is an American film by director Douglas Aarniokoski from 2000. The film opened in German cinemas on February 8, 2001.

action

The film begins in New York , where Connor is on his way to his antique shop. There he wants to meet Rachel, who runs the business for him. Rachel is killed in an explosion. Connor finds it difficult to overcome this loss and makes himself available to the refuge , a place of refuge where immortals can exist withdrawn from the rest of the world. This is on holy ground so that no immortal can challenge another, and is operated by "the watchers". But an immortal named Jacob Kell, who still wants to settle an old bill with Connor, destroys the refuge, but spares Connor MacLeod. The observers want to continue the refuge, see in Duncan MacLeod a new volunteer and kidnap him. Joe and Methos finally free him and Duncan goes in search of Connor. Eventually he meets Connor and also gets to know Kell and his horde of young immortals. Jacob Kell is one of the most dangerous immortals and has over 600 beheadings. Connor and Duncan have to face him. After Jacob Kell has killed his followers and has become even stronger, the friends Duncan and Connor have to compete against each other so that the survivor of this fight can soak up the spirit and strength of the other and take it on against Kell. Reluctantly, Duncan beheaded Connor. With the newly gained strength, Duncan finally manages to defeat Kell in the final battle.

Reviews

“Fourth, uninspired infusion of the fantasy cult film from 1986, which unites the main actor of the cinema series with the hero of the television offshoot of the same name. The attempt to serve different target groups through numerous flashbacks and quotes leads to logical breaks that confuse "Highlander" laypeople among the audience and anger real fans. "

particularities

The film Highlander: Endgame connects the television series Highlander with the movie series, whereby it contradicts the first movie because Connor dies here and therefore cannot receive the "price". Elements of the series found their way onto the big screen with this film. There were z. B. the observer inserted and Duncan MacLeod can be seen like in the pilot of the series with Connor MacLeod .

The fourth Highlander film, in contrast to the second and third, relates more to the first movie Highlander - There can only be one , because with the roles of Heather and Rachel , two characters from the original film also appear here.

All the names of the antagonists from the Highlander films begin with a "K": Kurgan, Katana, Kane and Kell.

There is a producer's cut of the film, which is longer than the theatrical version and contains several new and some changed scenes.
