Douglas Milsome also Doug Milsome (* 1939 in Hammersmith , London ) is a British film cameraman who oversaw various international cinema productions, including films such as Full Metal Jacket , 24 Hours in His Power , Robin Hood - King of Thieves , Breakdown or Dungeons & Dragons .
life and career
Douglas Milsome, born in 1939 in the London borough of Hammersmith, began his career in the 1960s as assistant camera to the film cameraman, who was responsible for guiding the lens during filming, and in the 1970s he worked as an assistant to numerous directors also in films by the director Stanley Kubrick such as Uhrwerk Orange , Barry Lyndon or Shining continuously from camera assistant to second unit to cameraman in a leading position, such as in Kubrick's anti-war film Full Metal Jacket in 1987, for which he took 3rd place in was recognized by the New York Film Critics Circle Awards for Best Cinematographer .
Since 1988 Douglas Milsome has been responsible for cinema productions in various genres as a cameraman, including films such as Bestie Krieg , Michael Cimino's thriller 24 hours in his power , the parody Teen Agent - When looks could kill , Kevin Reynolds adventure film Robin Hood - King of Thieves , Uli Edel's erotic thriller Body of Evidence , Cimino's crime drama The Sunchaser - The Search for the Holy Mountain , Jonathan Mostow 's psychological thriller Breakdown with Kurt Russell , as well as various productions with Jean-Claude Van Damme such as The Legionnaire or Hard Corps or the two fantasy films Highlander: Endgame and Dungeons and Dragons .
Since 2003 Milsome has been working increasingly for low-budget productions in the independent film sector and in video film production.
Douglas Milsome is a member of both the American Society of Cinematographers and the British Society of Cinematographers .
