Body of Evidence is a German-American film directed by Uli Edel from 1993 . The title is a play on words: “Body of evidence” refers to the evidence gathered in a court case on the one hand, and on the other hand undoubtedly alludes to the body of Rebecca (played by Madonna ).
action
Rebecca Carlson is charged with driving her wealthy lover from life to death through excessive sexual engagement.
During the course of the criminal proceedings, her lawyer Frank Dulany begins a brief, violent affair with her. He manages to convince the jury of Rebecca's innocence, she is acquitted. After the trial, however, Frank doubts whether Rebecca is really innocent. He introduces her and Dr. Payly in her apartment and realizes that together they have chosen the future victims. It also turns out that Dr. Payly lied on the witness stand so that Frank would dismantle it to get her innocence on the jury.
When Dr. Payly realizes that Rebecca was only using him and that because of the lie he told in court, he will lose everything if he wants to kill her. There is a fight between Frank and Dr. Payly because Frank wants to prevent it, whereby he tells Dr. Payly badly injured. Nevertheless, with the last of his strength, he succeeds in shooting Rebecca. Then Dr. Payly arrested by police for his actions.
Reviews
The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was "a stereotypically produced crime and court film that once again comes along with the 'scandalous' treatment of 'fatal desires'". He is "transparent, clichéd and superficial".
Quote from Prisma-Online : “Madonna is once again not stingy with skin, but that does not mean that it is much more erotic here than at the tax office at 9:30 in the morning. With this, director Uli Edel proved himself to be a reliable man for flops once again after his last exit in Brooklyn . "
Cinema magazine wrote that the director did not provide "comprehensible explanations for the film plot", but only "speculative images". It also says: "Madonna's cleverly thought-out sex acrobatics are neither mysterious nor unpredictable like Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct ".
