action

When Great Britain withdraws the pound notes to introduce the euro , the half-orphan Damian Cunningham falls from a moving money transport train with a travel bag filled with pound notes for destruction. The deeply religious Damian, who repeatedly daydreams about saints, believes that God gave him the money to do good with it, but finds out that this task is not easy and also not without danger. He inaugurates his pragmatic, business-minded older brother Anthony, who, however, rather enjoys being able to buy friends with the money, and otherwise wants to invest it profitably. The single father of the two, Ronnie, does not notice much of the conflict because he is too busy ensuring the family's existence.

Although Anthony urges the naive Damian not to tell anyone about the money found, the criminal who should have picked up the money finally gets on the right track based on his charity and puts the boys under pressure, but does not get the money.

When Damian finally realizes that all this money causes more problems than it solves, he burns it up. Anthony arrives too late to prevent it, while the gangster is arrested by the police. In his dream, Damian finally meets his deceased mother, who answers his many questions, and ends the story with his own dream in which he finances a well in an African village.
