Daisy Donovan (born July 11, 1975 in Brooklyn , New York ) is a British actress , writer and producer .

life and career

Born in 1975 on American soil in the New York borough of Brooklyn , the British Daisy Donovan automatically acquired US citizenship . Her parents are the British fashion photographer and film director Terence Donovan and his wife Diana Donovan, the director of the English National Ballet School. Her brother Terry Donovan is a co-founder of the Rockstar Games . Dan Donovan, keyboardist for the former band Big Audio Dynamite , is her half-brother.

Daisy Donovan attended St Paul's Girls School in London district of Hammersmith . She studied classical music at Cambridge University , but dropped out and moved to Edinburgh University to study performing arts. After graduation, she went to the well-known London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art .

At the beginning of her career she worked as a receptionist and messenger in the first episodes of The Eleven O'Clock Show in 1998 . Their producers were looking for a female presenter and found what they were looking for in their elegant speaking receptionist Daisy Donovan. In the following years she directed shows like Does Doug Know? and Daisy Does America . In addition to her work as a television presenter, she is also known as an actress. In German-speaking countries she became known for her role as Martha in the 2007 British black comedy Die for Beginners alongside leading actor Matthew Macfadyen .

Donovan married her longtime boyfriend, British comedian and producer Dan Mazer, in Morocco in 2005 . The couple have two daughters and live in west London.
