Andy Nelson (sound engineer)

Andrew "Andy" James Nelson (* 1953 in London ) is an award-winning American sound engineer , sound engineer and sound mixer (sound re-recording mixer).

Andy Nelson has been working as a sound engineer in film and television since 1983, first at Shepperton Studios in Great Britain , later at Film House Toronto with Norman Jewison and David Cronenberg, and then from 1989 at Todd-AO .

Andy Nelson has been the senior vice president of sound operations for 20th Century Fox since 2003 . He was previously Vice President of Re-Recording Services at Fox since 1997. He is currently one of the most talented re-recording mixers, while at the same time taking on other administrative tasks at Fox. Nelson is mostly involved in the post-production of films by well-known directors such as Steven Spielberg , James Cameron , George Lucas and JJ Abrams .

Andy Nelson has been working in a team with the sound engineer Anna Behlmer since 1993, with whom he was involved in Braveheart , Greedy and LA Confidential , among others . He mostly takes over the work on the dialogues and the music, while Behlmer is responsible for the sound effects.

He was awarded the Australian Centenary Medal by Queen Elizabeth II in 2001 for services to Australian film production and society.
