Niv Adiri

Niv Adiri (born 20th century in Kfar Vitkin , Israel ) is an Israeli sound engineer . He received an Oscar for best sound at the 2014 Academy Awards for his work on the film Gravity .

Life

Niv Adiri grew up in Kfar Vitkin, a small settlement near Netanya . He moved to England in the early 2000s, where he has worked as a sound designer for film and television ever since. His career began working on dialogue for the British release of the German cartoon Lauras Stern . Since then he has worked on more than 50 films. In 2009 he received a Golden Reel Award for his work on the film Slumdog Millionaire . He was also nominated for An Education (2010) and 127 Hours (2011).

In 2013 he worked on the sound of the space thriller Gravity . For working on this film, he received a BAFTA Award in the Best Sound category in 2014 together with Glenn Freemantle , Skip Lievsay , Christopher Benstead and Chris Munro . This was later followed by an Oscar win in the same category. His work has also received awards from the Cinema Audio Society , the Hollywood Post Alliance , Motion Picture Sound Editors, and the Online Film & Television Association . He also received a CinEuphoria Award and a Satellite Award .

Adiri is married and has two children.
