Robin O'Donoghue

Robin O'Donoghue (* 1945 in Uxbridge , Middlesex , England ) is a British sound engineer .

Life

O'Donoghue began his career in the mid-1960s, making his debut as an uncredited sound assistant in Roman Polański's thriller When Katelbach Comes ... in 1966. From the early 1970s he worked as a sound engineer and was initially on some war and war games Involved in science fiction films . In 1978 he received the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Sound category for The Bridge of Arnhem . By 1999, five more nominations for this award followed, which he could not win again.

O'Donoghue has worked on numerous literary adaptations, including George Orwell's 1984 , Victor Hugo's Les Misérables and five Shakespeare adaptations: Henry V , Much Ado About Nothing , Othello , What you want and Hamlet . In 1983 he received his first Oscar nomination in the Best Sound category , but Gandhi received nothing. Even with the second nomination for the 1988 Oscar for Shakespeare in Love , he could not win the award.

In addition to over 120 feature films, he has also worked on numerous television productions, including the mini-series Noble House , Scarlett and Lipstick on the Collar . For the latter series he was nominated for the BAFTA TV Award in 1994.
