action
The Brazilian street children Raphael, Gardo and Rato live in a favela . Every day they look for valuable objects in a garbage dump . One day they find a wallet that was thrown into a garbage truck by the whistleblower José Angelo while fleeing from the police. It contains an important note on the exposure of a corruption scandal involving the mayoral candidate Santos. José Angelo himself is tortured to death.
The corrupt policeman Frederico and other officers look for the wallet in the garbage dump. Raphael is also tortured by police officers so that he can give Frederico the purse he is looking for. However, he refuses. Instead of collecting the advertised reward, Raphael, Gardo and Rato seek the help of Priest Juilliard and the NGO worker Olivia. Together they manage to decipher the clues encoded by a Bible edition and an animal lottery ticket. These result in the telephone number of a cemetery. There they come across a large sum of Santos' bribes that José Angelo had hidden in a coffin. The police officer Frederico also found his way to the cemetery in the pursuit.
It comes to a showdown in which José Angelo's daughter Pia drops a marble pillar on the policeman's head. The children can flee.
The boys distribute a large part of the money on the dump and give a part to the priest and the church. With the rest of the sum, Pia and the boys can afford a life in a luxurious beach area. There you can see on TV how Santos is arrested because of your revelations.
