Selton Mello
Selton Mello (born Selton Figueiredo Melo ; born December 30, 1972 in Passos , Minas Gerais ) is a Brazilian actor , voice actor , screenwriter and director .
Life
In his early youth he appeared in various Brazilian television productions. As a voice actor, he worked on the Portuguese versions of films such as Police Academy , The Goonies and Karate Kid II . In 1990 he first appeared in a feature film in Uma Escola Atrapalhada . In 2000 he got the lead role in the miniseries A Invenção do Brasil .
From 2004 to 2008 he hosted the cultural program Tarja Preta on Canal Brasil .
In 2007 he played the lead role of Matt in the television series O Sistema . In 2008 Mello made his debut as a director of a feature film with Feliz Natal . At the same time he shot music videos with Brazilian artists like Ira! , Nasi or Ana Cañas .
In 2009 he played in Jean Charles the role of Jean Charles de Menezes , who was mistaken for a terrorist by the British police and shot dead on July 22nd, 2005 in London during an anti-terrorist operation.
Mello celebrated his greatest success in 2011 with the film O Palhaço (international title The Clown ), in which he was responsible for the script, the direction and the leading role. O Palhaço was received very positively by the critics and reached a total of 1.5 million cinema viewers in Brazil. He has received numerous national and international awards. At the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro 2012, the film was awarded in a total of 12 categories, including that for the best film . The film was also submitted as a Brazilian entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2013 Academy Awards , but did not make the final shortlist.
