Johann Georg Raber
Johann Georg Raber (* 1764 in Vienna ; † 1830 in Munich ) was a German painter and copperplate engraver who primarily worked as a reproduction engraver .
Life
Raber learned the trimmings trade (production of braid, fringe and tassel jewelry) in Vienna and worked as a braid master in Munich since 1799. In Munich there was a professional reorientation and the start of drawing lessons, after which he received lessons from Johann Gotthard Müller in Stuttgart . A trip to Dresden and Berlin followed. Between 1804 and 1810 Raber stayed with Maximilian I of Bavaria in Paris , where he studied with Auguste Gaspard Louis Desnoyers . After 1810 he worked in Munich.
