Laugarbakki is a settlement in northwest Iceland that belongs to the municipality of Húnaþing vestra .
geography
Laugarbakki is located on the Miðfjarðará river southeast of its confluence with the Miðfjörður fjord , about 400 meters south of the ring road .
Culture and sights
In Laugarbakki, a museum is being built for Grettir the Strong , the hero from the Grettis saga , who grew up on the nearby Bjarg farm . From the Ringstrasse you can see the meter-high sword stuck in the lawn next to the museum building.
Laugarbakki has hot springs , the water of which is used to heat Laugarbakki and Hvammstangi .
Since 2014, the Norðanpaunk , a self-organized non-profit music festival, has been taking place at Verslunarmannahelgi .

A gas station with a kiosk, a campsite and a Hotel Edda are the offers for travelers. Fishing licenses for the lakes in the highlands ( Arnarvatnsheiði ) are also available in Laugarbakki .
