Silvia Christoph

Silvia Christoph (born October 1950 in Berlin ) is a German illustrator , graphic designer and singer.

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Christoph completed a graphic design degree at the Berlin University of the Arts . After graduating, she went on to study at the University of Education in Berlin with the aim of becoming a music teacher . During her studies she gained experience with an airbrush gun and designed record covers and band posters for friends. As Christoph a permanent position in the advertising agency Procomshe dropped out of her second degree. After nine months she left the agency to work as a freelance illustrator. In the following time, commissioned work was created for various Berlin agencies and graphic offices, including event posters, posters, video covers, record covers, band posters, film posters, storyboards and program flyers for music clubs.

After showing her work to the then editor at Ullstein Verlag in 1990 , she received an order for 10 titles. Since then she has been working full-time as an illustrator for book publishers. a. for Kosmos-Verlag ( Die Drei ??? ), cbj ( Five Friends ), Loewe Verlag ( Fear Street ), Arena Verlag , Heyne Verlag and Piper Verlag .

In addition to the illustration, Christoph is also a singer. Her first band was Airship (Jazz-Funk-Latin Formation), which she joined in 1977. In the 1980s, she became known as the lead singer with the rock band Insisters . At the end of 1984 Christoph founded her own band Number Nine . In 1990 she became a member of the Reineke Fuchs ensemble under the direction of Doris Heiland.

In addition, Silvia Christoph worked as a dubbing singer with recording studios. She has appeared in TV and cinema productions such as The Lion King , Aladdin , The Hunchback of Notre Dame , Tom and Jerry and Charlie - All Dogs Go To Heaven .

After various other guest appearances with musicians and bands, Silvia Christoph has been a singer in the Wayne Grajeda Band since 2006 . In 2019 she also appeared in the 2nd season of The Voice Senior .

Works

Silvia Christoph is above all through her illustrations for the children's and youth book series Die drei ??? known. Since 1999 she has been designing the covers for the series on behalf of Kosmos Verlag, following the long-time illustrator Aiga Rasch .
