Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux is a French municipality with 5778 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; administratively it belongs to the Arrondissement of Grenoble and is part of the Canton of Grenoble-2 . The inhabitants are called Saint-Martinières .

Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux is located north of Grenoble on the banks of the Isère . Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Quaix-en-Chartreuse in the north, La Tronche in the east, Grenoble in the south and Saint-Égrève in the west and northwest. On the border with Saint-Égrève, the Mont Néron rises at 1298 meters as part of the Chartreuse Mountains . The municipality is partly in the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park .
