Besse is about 36 kilometers east-southeast of Grenoble . Besse is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves in the north and north-west, Saint-Jean-d'Arves in the north and north-east, La Grave in the east, Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans in the south and south-east, and Mizoën in the south as well as Clavans-en-Haut-Oisans to the west.
