Quaix-en-Chartreuse is a French village with 893 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Grenoble and to the Grenoble-Alpes-Métropole municipal association founded in 2014 .

Quaix-en-Chartreuse is located eight kilometers north of Grenoble on the southern slope of the Chartreuse massif within the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park . The highest point in the municipality is the summit La Pinéa ( 1771  m ) in the extreme north. Other elevations in the wooded, mountainous north of the municipality are L'Écotoux ( 1406  m ) and Aiguille de Quaix ( 1143  m ). Quaix-en-Chartreuse is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sarcenas in the northeast, Le Sappey-en-Chartreuse in the east, Corenc and La Tronche in the southeast, Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux in the south, Saint-Égrève in the southwest and Proveysieux in the west and Northwest.

The municipality of Quaix-en-Chartreuse is connected by the main road D67 with the municipality of La Tronche , a suburb of Grenoble , five kilometers away . Grenoble is an important transport hub in southeast France. The Saint-Égrève-Saint-Robert train station, four kilometers away, is on the Lyon – Marseille railway line .
