Lans-en-Vercors is a French commune with 2,651 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Grenoble and the canton of Fontaine-Vercors . The inhabitants are called Lantier .
geography
Lans-en-Vercors is around ten kilometers southwest of Grenoble on a plateau in the Vercors Mountains, flanked by the Roc Cornafion mountains . The municipality is located in the Vercors Regional Nature Park . Lans-en-Vercors is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Engins in the north, Saint-Nizier-du-Moucherotte in the north and northeast, Claix in the east, Varces-Allières-et-Risset and Saint-Paul-de-Varces in the southeast, Villard- de-Lans in the south and south-west, Méaudre in the west and Autrans in the north-west.
