Saint-Ismier is a French municipality with 6966 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Saint-Ismier is part of the Arrondissement of Grenoble and the canton of Le Moyen Grésivaudan . The inhabitants call themselves Saint-Ismerusiens .

Saint-Ismier is bounded in the southeast by an old Isère arch .
Saint-Ismier is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bernin in the northeast, Saint-Nazaire-les-Eymes and Villard-Bonnot in the east, Le Versoud in the south, Montbonnot-Saint-Martin in the southwest and Biviers in the west.
Saint-Ismier consists of the districts of Les Essarts, Les Bouts, Le Fayolle, Le Rozat, Les Maréchaux, Les Varciaux, La Bâtie, Pratel, La Fontaine Amélie, Les Semaises, Le Fangeat, Bougie and Le Coin. The municipality is partly in the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park .
The A41 autoroute and the former Route nationale 90 run through the municipality .
The Étraire de la Dui grape variety is grown in this area .
