Theys is surrounded by the neighboring communities Goncelin in the north and north-west, Saint-Pierre-d'Allevard in the north and north-east, La Ferrière in the east, Les Adrets in the south and south-west, Hurtières and La Pierre in the south-west and Tencin in the west.
A ski station of Les Sept Laux belongs to the community (at about 1,350 meters).
