Theys is a French commune with 1,961 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Grenoble and the Canton of Haut-Grésivaudan (until 2015: Canton Goncelin ). The inhabitants are called Tarins .

Theys is a municipality in Grésivaudan . Theys is surrounded by the neighboring communities Goncelin in the north and north-west, Saint-Pierre-d'Allevard in the north and north-east, La Ferrière in the east, Les Adrets in the south and south-west, Hurtières and La Pierre in the south-west and Tencin in the west.

A ski station of Les Sept Laux belongs to the community (at about 1,350 meters).
