Marcieu is a French commune with a population of 72 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Grenoble and belongs to the canton of Matheysine-Trièves (until 2015 La Mure ). The inhabitants are called Marcelands (or: Marciolands ).
geography
Marcieu is located about 25 kilometers south-southeast of Grenoble on the Drac , which is dammed up here to the Lac de Monteynard-Avignonet (also: Lac de Notre-Dame-de-Commiers ) and limits the municipality to the west. Marcieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities Avignonet in the north, La Motte-Saint-Martin in the east and northeast, Mayres-Savel in the south, meeting place in the west and southwest and Sinard in the west and northwest.
