The inhabitants are called Maloux .

Sainte-Marie-d'Alloix is a municipality in Grésivaudan and is located in the Chartreuse Mountains . The Isère flows through the eastern part of the municipality. Sainte-Marie-d'Alloix is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Buissière in the north, Le Cheylas in the east, Saint-Vincent-de-Mercuze in the south and west and La Flachère in the north-west.
The A41 autoroute crosses the municipality.
