Champagnier is a French commune with 1,226 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Grenoble and the canton of Le Pont-de-Claix (until 2015 canton of Vizille ). The inhabitants are called Champagnards .

Champagnier is located about eight kilometers south-southeast of Grenoble . The Romanche flows into the Drac in the south of the municipality . Champagnier is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Échirolles in the north, Jarrie in the east, Champ-sur-Drac in the south, Varces-Allières-et-Risset in the south-west and Le Pont-de-Claix in the west and north-west.
