Cognin-les-Gorges is a French municipality with 635 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Grenoble and the canton of Le Sud Grésivaudan ( canton of Vinay until 2015 ). The inhabitants are called cognards .

geography

Cognin-les-Gorges is located about 25 kilometers west-southwest of Grenoble on the Isère , which borders the municipality in the north. The municipality is also part of the Vercors Regional Nature Park . Cognin-les-Gorges is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Beaulieu in the north, Vinay in the north and northeast, Rovon in the east and northeast, Malleval in the east and southeast and Izeron in the south and west.
