geography

Le Cheylas is a municipality in the Grésivaudan valley . The Isère river forms the western boundary of the municipality. Le Cheylas is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pontcharra in the north, Saint-Pierre-d'Allevard in the east, Morêtel-de-Mailles in the east and south-east, Goncelin in the south and south-west, Saint-Vincent-de-Mercuze in the west and Sainte-Marie -d'Alloix to the northwest.
