Piraziz is a Turkish coastal town on the Black Sea and at the same time the administrative center of the district of the same name in the Giresun province . The city is located approx. 23 km (27 km by road) west of the provincial capital Giresun . The place was raised to a municipality ( Belediye ) in 1965 and is home to a good half of the district's population (2018: 56.8%).
The district Piraziz is located in the west of the province and is bordered to the east by the county Bulancak and on the west by two circles of the province of Ordu . The Bucak Piraziz moved to the newly founded Bulancak district in 1934 and stayed there until it was split off on August 16, 1988 to become the Piraziz district. The last population information before the area change comes from the 1985 census and showed 18,461 inhabitants for the Bucak, of which 5,498 inhabitants for the Bucak main town ( Bucak Merkezi ) Piraziz.
At the end of 2018, in addition to the district town, the district still consisted of 22 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 288 residents per village (total population of all villages: 6,335 inhabitants). The village of Bozat is the largest with 931 inhabitants.
