Görele is a Turkish coastal city on the Black Sea and a district in the province of Giresun . It is located approx. 60 km northeast of the provincial capital Giresun . Waltrop (North Rhine-Westphalia) has been the twin town since 2013 .

The district Görele bordered to the west by the county Tirebolu , the south by the county Çanakçı and the east by the county eynesil . In addition, there is a narrow border in the southeast with the province of Trabzon . The district has a high population density , more than twice the provincial average of 64.6 inhabitants per km².

In addition to the district town ( Belediye since 1876 ), he has another community with Çavuşlu (2,451 inhabitants). Furthermore, 60 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 227 residents belong to the district. Esenli is the largest village with 1,082 inhabitants.

Personalities

The painter and poet Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu (1911–1975) and the diplomat Feridun Sinirlioğlu (* 1956) were born in Görele .
