Tencin is a French commune with 2,095 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Grenoble and the Canton of Haut-Grésivaudan (until 2015: Canton Goncelin ). The inhabitants are called Tencinois .

Tencin is a municipality in Grésivaudan . The Isère limits the municipality to the west. Tencin is surrounded by the neighboring communities Goncelin in the north, Theys in the east, Hurtières in the south-east, La Pierre in the south, Lumbin in the west and south-west and La Terrasse in the west and north-west.
