Chantesse is a French municipality with 337 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Grenoble and the Canton of Le Sud Grésivaudan (until 2015: Canton of Vinay ). The inhabitants are called Chantessois .

Chantesse is about 22 kilometers west-northwest of Grenoble . Chantesse is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cras in the north, Poliénas in the east, L'Albenc in the south, Notre-Dame-de-l'Osier in the west and Vatilieu in the north-west.
