Max Meixner
Max Meixner was a Czechoslovak- German ski jumper .
Career
Meixner came from the Bohemian Ore Mountains and grew up in the town of Bärringen (Pernink), where his parents owned a house on Plattner Strasse (now Potocni 162). His brother was the architect Ernst Meisner, who drafted the plans for the Ludwig-Schuhmann-Schanze in Bärringen, which was used as a large hill from 1935. As a result, Max Meixner came into contact with ski jumping at an early stage and after appropriate training he achieved considerable distances on this hill himself.
In 1945 he and his family were expelled from Czechoslovakia. Together with his brother Ernst Meixner, he found a new home in Eilenburg . Here he co-founded a ski section in the German Sports Committee and took over the chairmanship of the Delitzsch district. He succeeded in getting several residents from Eilenburg and Wurzen excited about building a ski jump in the lowlands. As before in Bärringen, his brother Ernst provided the construction plans. This ski jump was built in 1950/51 in the Hohburger mountains . A little later a ski jumping hill was built in Eilenburg, which was consecrated on November 9th, 1958. Here, among others, Joachim Petzold and Karsten Wießner trained as later members of the GDR national team.
