Montagne is a French commune with a population of 266 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Grenoble and the canton of Le Sud Grésivaudan (until 2015 Saint-Marcellin ). The inhabitants are called Montagnards .

Montagne is located about 42 kilometers west-southwest of Grenoble in the historic Dauphiné landscape . Montagne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Antoine-l'Abbaye in the north and northeast, Saint-Bonnet-de-Chavagne in the east, Saint-Lattier in the south, Parnans in the southwest and Montmiral in the west.
