Sinard is a French municipality with 692 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Rhône-Alpes ). The municipality is located in the Arrondissement of Grenoble and belongs to the canton of Matheysine-Trièves ( Monestier-de-Clermont until 2015 ). The inhabitants are called Sinardoux .

geography

Sinard is located about 28 kilometers south-southwest of Grenoble on a plateau in the Vercors Mountains. The Drac River limits the community to the southeast. Sinard is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-de-la-Cluze in the north, Avignonet in the north and east, Marcieu in the south-east, Treffort in the south, Monestier-de-Clermont in the south-west, and Saint-Paul-lès-Monestier in the west Southwest and Miribel-Lanchâtre in the northwest.

The A51 autoroute runs through the municipality .
