Location of the association of municipalities in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region

The Communauté de communes du Trièves is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Isère département , whose administrative headquarters are in Monestier-de-Clermont . The association is located at the southern tip of the department in the Alps, about 20 km southeast of Grenoble at the transition from the Vercors massif to the Dévoluy massif . In this area is the eponymous Trièves , an alpine valley of medium heights from 500  m to 1200  m , which is bordered in the northeast by the Drac river . The community association consists of 27 communities and has 10,002 inhabitants (as of 2015) on an area of ​​631.8 km ² . Jérôme Fauconnier is the president of the community association.

history

The Communauté de communes du Trièves came into force on January 1, 2012 as a merger of three existing municipal associations:

• Communautés de communes du Canton de Clelles of the eight municipalities of the canton of Clelles , founded at the turn of the year 1992/1993;
• Communautés de communes de Mens of the nine communes of the canton of Mens , founded at the turn of the year 1993/1994;
• Communautés de communes du Canton de Monestier de Clermont of the twelve municipalities of the canton of Monestier-de-Clermont , founded at the end of 1996.

The new, enlarged community association also replaced several of the special purpose associations that the individual Communauté de communes had formed among themselves.

tasks

The competencies required include developing and promoting economic activities and spatial planning based on a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association determines the housing construction policy and operates the road maintenance service, the water supply as well as the garbage collection and disposal. In addition, the association builds and maintains cultural and sports facilities and promotes events in these areas. The Communauté de communes is also responsible for schools and promotes childcare and extracurricular activities.
