Celestin Hazikimana

Célestin Hazikimana (born August 14, 1963 in Kigali , Rwanda ) is a Rwandan clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Gikongoro .

Life

Célestin Hazikimana studied at the Nyakibanda Interdiocesan Seminary in Butare and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Kigali on July 21, 1991 . He then worked in pastoral care and in the Catholic education system of the Archdiocese of Kigali.

After further studies in Naples, he was in the subject dogma to Dr. theol. PhD . In 2011 he was appointed general secretary of the Bishops' Conference of Rwanda.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Gikongoro on November 26, 2014. The Archbishop of Kigali, Thaddée Ntihinyurwa , ordained him episcopal on January 24 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Kabgayi , Smaragde Mbonyintege , and the Bishop of Butare , Philippe Rukamba .
