Saint-Just-de-Claix is located about 37 kilometers west-southwest of Grenoble on the Isère , which forms the western boundary of the municipality and into which the Bourne (also the southern border river) flows here. The municipality belongs to the Vercors Regional Nature Park . Saint-Just-de-Claix is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of La Sône in the north, Saint-Romans in the northeast, Saint-André-en-Royans in the east, Auberives-en-Royans in the southeast, Saint-Thomas-en-Royans and La Motte-Fanjas in the south, Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans in the southwest and Saint-Hilaire-du-Rosier in the west.
