Poliénas is located about 21 kilometers west-northwest of Grenoble on the Isère , which borders the municipality in the east. Poliénas is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Tullins in the north, Saint-Quentin-sur-Isère in the north-east, La Rivière in the east, L'Albenc in the south, Chantesse in the west and Cras and Morette in the north-west.

The A48 autoroute runs through the municipality .
