Saint-Jean-d'Arves is a French municipality with 266 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and the canton of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne . The inhabitants are called Saint-Glenains .
geography
Saint-Jean-d'Arves is located about 41 kilometers east of Grenoble on the banks of the Arvan River . In the municipality are the ski area of the same name (which is part of Les Sybelles ) and the mountains Montzard (2,107 meters) and Mont Falcon (2,625 meters). Saint-Jean-d'Arves is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villarembert in the north, Fontcouverte-la-Toussuire in the north and north-east, Albiez-Montrond in the east and north-east, Valloire in the east and south-east, La Grave in the south, Besse in the south-west and Saint -Sorlin-d'Arves to the west.
