Bessans is a French commune in the department of Savoie in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Bessans has 353 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) on an area of ​​128.08 km².

Bessans is located in the outer zone of the Vanoise National Park . You can also do winter sports in Bessans. The community offers opportunities for cross-country skiing and skiing. The national teams of France and other countries are also training here for the next season. After a landslide below Bessan, an ice reservoir formed on which you can ice skate.

From Bessans the pilgrimage route goes to the Rocciamelone through the Vallée de Ribon. The small pilgrimage chapel Chapelle de Tierce ( 2973  m ) stands high above the village on a peak at the beginning of this valley .
