Freney is a commune in the Savoy in France . It belongs to the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes , the Savoie department , the district Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Canton Modane . The residents call themselves Fénelins.

Geography, infrastructure

At Freney, the arc is jammed. This forms the border with Saint-André in the north . The other neighboring communities are Fourneaux in the east, Modane in the south and Orelle in the west. The Culoz – Modane railway and the A43 expressway, called Autoroute de la Maurienne, run along the river valley and join with European route 70 .
