The Arvan is a river in France that runs in the Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises under the name Arvettaz in the French Alps, on the western flank of the Grand Agnelin summit (2958 m), in the municipality of Saint-Jean-d'Arves . The river generally drains in a north-easterly direction, swiveling between the towns of Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves and Saint-Jean-d'Arves to the south-east and after a total of 30 kilometers it flows on the eastern outskirts of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne on the left Tributary into the arc .
